Gaby was Fabreeze, the evil stepmother, in Cinderella and the Substitute Fairy Godmother. They started rehearsing in January. They worked hard on lines, sets, costumes, and earning money for the set, t-shirts, and party. She would climb into the car after play practice just beaming. It was really a fabulous experience for her. Mrs. Kidd directed the play, and she and her husband played the part of the king and queen. They were awesome, and very complimentary.
The first night we walked in to see five of Gaby's friends sitting in the audience. Sister Palmer (the girls help her at the care center do crafts with the residents) and her husband were also there. Grandma and Grandpa Malcom were there, in spite of all of their current health issues, to support her. It really touched my heart. One of Gaby's friends prior to the performance said, "Oh, I can't wait to see Gaby in this!" After the play another friend said, "Oh Gaby, you were right! That was very funny." We are thankful for good, cute friends.
The second night of the performance, while in the kick line, Gaby's shoe went flying into the air. Interestingly enough, the night before Morgan came home and said, "Mom I'm pretty sure Gaby was wearing my shoes up there on stage!" Gaby just carried on with the show, after the kick line, she went to the side of the stage, kicked off her shoe, and just kept going. I asked my dad what his favorite part was, and he said watching her just keep on going after the shoe flew! Gabrielle was awarded "Most Improved Actress". We are proud of you Sister!
