Day 5 in California was spent at the beach. The kids had never seen an ocean before. I researched online, and asked several people, and finally decided on Treasure Island Park. It is the Southern most beach in Laguna Beach. It was between Corona Del Mar and Aliso beach. As we were driving to the ocean we could see it off in the distance Greg told the kids there's the beach. They all echoed "Where". Seth said "It looks like a big sky to me!". The waves were pretty high. I was a paranoid freak at first. One time Seth was completely knocked down and submersed. He jumped back up, and said "That's what I call baptism by immersion". He had us in stitches. He decided he didn't ever need to go back to Disneyland again. He proudly announced, "I'm going to be a BEACH BOY!" Kira asked, "What's that?" Seth replied, "It's when you play on the beach all day, every day!"
Greg was teaching the kids how to body skim. They all got pretty good at it, and we were there at high tide, so they had some great waves to work with. Morgan had no fear. She spent quite a bit of time out riding the waves and swimming. As a result she was fried. The water must have washed her sunscreen right off! Seth said after a particularly good ride, "And that's what I call being ONE with the WAVES!"
We had pesky seagulls trying to steal our snacks, sunscreen, Ensign; anything they could get their beak on. Seth and Ben started feeding them. they probably had 15-20 that were mooching popcorn from Seth, and fruit snacks from Bennie.
Bennie loved playing in the water, and he LOVED the sand. He would bury his face in the sand, possibly kissing it. Every time he'd come up with a mouthful of sand. He was in his highest degree of happiness.
I think that we all fell in love with the beach, and will have fond memories of our time there.
