B State Swim Meet

Mori and Kira had a great meet a B State.  Thursday night Mori started throwing up.  We had been out shoveling snow, and she worked so hard.  A few days before I had the stomach flu and a few days before that Greg had it.  She had it so much worse than us.  She was literally up all night long.  It was a continual, ugly sickness.  The poor kid would fall asleep only to wake up dry heaving.  I really questioned if she would even be able to show her face at the meet let alone swim in it.  Greg gave her a blessing and told her body would heal and regain it's strength and she would be able to swim.  Saturday morning she was still a bit queasy.

Morgan had a tough break this year.  She had qualifying times for A state in 3 events.  Any event you have an A state qualifying time in you can not swim that event at B state.  Morgan's birthday is March 2... A state is March 3-5.  She ages up the day before and that makes her ineligible to swim in the A State meet.  She took it all in stride.  B state is Saturday and Sunday.  She placed first in the 200 IM and the 100 Breast.  She rocked those races.  Her fly has improved so much.  She also took 2 second places and a fourth place.  She had a packed day swimming 5 events.  She finished the day with a 500 Free...the only race she gained time in...and just a few seconds.  Considering she had just been in bed the day before, well not even considering that she had an awesome meet.  Hard work pays off!

Kira swam 3 events and placed in all of the events.  State swim meets are fun because the ribbons are big and pretty.  It is fun that her very first 3 ribbons are state ribbons.  Kira's breathing on her free is getting better.  She rocked her breast stroke.  She lost steam in the end.  When this girl gets her endurance built up and and breathing figured out...MOVE OVER.  She'll be unstoppable!

I love cheering these girls on.  It is so fun to watch them improve and obtain goals.  I look forward to a break for a few months...If they'll let us.  Swimming year round is not for the faint of heart...sadly I get tired faster than they do!
